ABOUT ADAM
Adam Surfus is a singer/songwriter and worship leader who writes worship, soaking & christian meditation music. He and his lovely wife, Stacy, currently live in the country, south of Atlanta. He is in full time ministry with Forward Church, leading worship and is the church administrator.
Inspired by Creator and creation, Adam's lyrics often include elements of nature and his sound has been described as earthy and meditative. He is passionate about writing songs that reveal the love and goodness of God. Adam's music often reminds believers of their new covenant identity in the finished work of Christ.
Adam was born and raised just south of Atlanta, also known as "the city in the forest". Growing up in Georgia, he was surrounded by tall trees, peaceful lakes and creeks, and beautiful trails winding through the woods. Driving down back roads, singing at the top of his lungs, and taking in gorgeous sunsets have been a regular occurrence.
He grew up in church and learned about God from his parents and a faith community full of wonderful people. As many do in their teens and early twenties, he walked away from the church. During this time, he found his identity in his sin and behavior, rather than in who Christ had paid for Him to be. But the Lord continued to remind Adam of His love and desire for relationship through family members, music, a waffle house cook, a homeless man outside of a club, and many other children of God.
In February of 2005 he encountered the presence of God like never before during a youth conference. It was then that he fully surrendered to the great love of the Father and decided to take His hand and follow Him forever. This completely changed the direction of Adam's life, it led to his decision to attend a bible college and do an internship at an awesome local church. Through some incredible believers in this community, he had the joy of learning what a passionate and powerful relationship with Jesus looks like and what it means to serve God and others.
Adam currently leads worship and is the administrator of Forward Church. There he has learned so much about who God is and about His kindness. This group of brothers and sisters in Christ constantly remind him of what it means to receive the promises of God and live the abundant life we have been offered. Their focus on the finished work of Christ has really helped him experience internal transformation. He no longer defines himself by his mistakes, but looks only to Jesus to find his true identity.
